Just wrote a letter to my friend the Assistant Superintendent of Posts in Kerala, India. I'm sending him some lovely vintage first-day covers and an assortment of stamps. He's sending me back (hopefully!) a bird postcard and some beautiful bird stamps. I am always looking for भारत के मूल पक्षी !

Today I've learned about Belarusian gobelin weaving, the hydrangea season in Japan, and how to say "my garden is teeming with insects" from a native speaker. ✨
It's "In meinen Gerten wimmelt es vor Inseklen", if you're curious. ☺️

Starting your week off with another southeastern US native plant: Yucca filamentosa! Common names: common yucca, bear-grass, needle-palm. Used by the Cherokee.
Fun fact: this yucca is pronounced the same, but is distinct from, the root you may know as yuca, cassava or manioc (Manihot esculenta).

I love rap because it's where black men openly talk about love, betrayal, losing, self-doubt, demons and other vulnerabilities. In 90s rap they talk about it being therapy. Dudes could cry in grief on a track. Ironic the amount of freedom in a tiny recording booth.

Some good thoughts on how to increase ALT text usage. I love the idea of being able to add it later if I forget. And also a prompt that comes up before hitting post on an image without it. I'd love to see everyone on the Science list really try to focus on ALT text!
