And now, @washingtonpost.com has fired me, the last Black staff columnist left.

All for doing my job — condemning political violence, critiquing empty rhetoric and noting America’s tolerance for violence and hatred coming from white men.

a ONE HOUR TRIBUTE. Again I have yet to see, even from the most diehard people driving around making Denny's lower their flags about this, a single example of what anyone liked about Kirk's work. I have not seen a single sentence-long quote

#BREAKING: Sinclair says it will air a one-hour tribute to Charlie Kirk on its ABC-affiliated stations in the time slot that is usually occupied for "Jimmy Kimmel Live." The special will air on Friday, per a Sinclair spokesperson.

Show me one! Show me the eloquent debate, the good idea, the thought-provoking take on anything. Football stadiums were holding a moment of silence for this great American hero. Can't wait for someone to show me his work!

One thing I've noticed is that at no point in ANY of this discussion has anyone on the Right shared their favorite Charlie clip, the quote of his they liked, the thing he wrote or said on air that they think is worthwhile or even vaguely supports the notion of who they say he was

Hey, has anyone else (cis or trans) been gender-policed at U.S. Open restrooms? Feel free to DM here or email jmkliegman@gmail.com. Trying to see something, potentially for a story. Please consider reskeeting my query!
For those keeping score at home, I peed three (3) times at the Open today and was gender-policed on two (2) of those occasions 🙃
Apparently my stress dream *should’ve* been about getting gender-policed by an attendant in the women’s bathroom (she apologized)

I'd like us to stop validating the idea that Jelena's blowup was due to the let cord. She lost her shit and found an excuse later. And she deserved every boo that rained upon her as she left.

In her presser today, she said, "If I allow what other people have to say about me affect me ... then they win. ... I stood up for myself and I kept in my mind in that moment how I wanted to portray myself and how I wanted to show up." Her whole career is a testament to never letting the haters win.

After Nike dropped her, she played for seven years without a clothing sponsor. That's a big anomaly in a sport where everyone from Ekaterina Alexandrova (K-Swiss) to Renata Zarazua (Alo) has an apparel deal. So, instead of waiting for brands to support her she started her own (and I wrote about it!)

When she was 16, the USTA pulled its support because they said she had to lose weight. In an essay for the Players’ Tribune, she wrote: “I was fat, and I was Black, so they took away my dream. Or at least they tried.” But her dream wasn't that easy to kill.

Taylor Townsend has more experience than any athlete alive fighting for respect and carving out space for herself in a sport that's told her repeatedly that she doesn't belong. Today is just the latest example of why tennis is lucky to have her.
After a heated second round match at the US Open, American Taylor Townsend calls out her opponent, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko:

"She told me I have no class, I have no education, and to see what happens when we get outside the U.S."

Yeah, this is Ostapenko being blatantly racist and we should call it out for what it is.

i know Ostapenko does this to a lot of players but "no class, no education" isn't a very quiet dogwhistle.
