In her presser today, she said, "If I allow what other people have to say about me affect me ... then they win. ... I stood up for myself and I kept in my mind in that moment how I wanted to portray myself and how I wanted to show up." Her whole career is a testament to never letting the haters win.

So, instead of waiting for brands to support her she started her own (and I wrote about it!)

When she was 16, the USTA pulled its support because they said she had to lose weight. In an essay for the Players’ Tribune, she wrote: “I was fat, and I was Black, so they took away my dream. Or at least they tried.” But her dream wasn't that easy to kill.

i know Ostapenko does this to a lot of players but "no class, no education" isn't a very quiet dogwhistle.
