I wrote book reviews for a while for the WSJ well over a decade ago, and Bari Weis was my editor. One of her special tricks was to try to insert a sharp rightward slant into my essays *after* it had been copy edited, as a way of slipping her viewpoint in at the last minute.

I've also now seen the video of the aftermath where the woman's wife, who was in the car with her when she was shot, was wailing and crying and asking for help as in the background ICE agents prevent a doctor from trying to help the shot woman. I am incandescent with rage.

In California it was Reagan. He was responsible for the closure of our local mental hospitals because he defunded them. He said families could/should take care of their own, it wasn't taxpayers responsibility. Never mind families are unable to provide that care. It was cruel.
