Never assume for the future that any politician will keep to any values that may have aligned with yours in the past.

Politicians do not run on consistency or liberation. They run on profit.

If they align, we leverage it, but we remain vigilant about all positions open to shifting at any moment.

Shit like this is the reason that some days I am certain we're fucked.

Assuming we can't go backwards is part of how we got here...
It is absolutely possible for a country to develop backwards. That is happening to the U.S. as we witness the immense loss of scientific research and reporting, demolishing of education, removal of basic human rights, and push toward increased oppression.

Destruction and backwards development.

DOGE's savings page fixed old mistakes — and added new ones

Mexico's president Sheinbaum signed a decree declaring February 14 as the Memorial day for General Vicente Guerrero, the first Afro-Mexican president, who is notable for abolishing slavery on September 15, 1829 which led to the US invasion of 1846 backing US occupiers that refused to comply.

The most accurate framing I've read yet
“In just a couple of weeks, a criminal infiltrator managed to get inside the halls of multiple agencies, disrupting government work and threatening federal employees who have served their country for years. The suspect heads a criminal organization, DOGE..."

Good framing. Yes.

And this is exactly my fear
From a DOJ litigator at a Super Bowl party rn:

“Don’t rely on the courts [to stop the coup]. The courts are not going to save us. They’re not designed for this.”

While the court decisions against Musk and Trump are important, I worry they won't be enough. These people don't care about the rule of law, and the GOP controlled Congress has all but ceded any power they had. So who will make them comply?
Thank you!! A federal judge in New York has granted a temporary restraining order in favor of the states suing over DOGE.

Yes it is. Do not self censor. Do not obey in advance. Be as brave as you can.

I had Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) in 2020. I had a Ki-67 number of 97%, a measure of the aggressiveness (mine was basically as high as it gets). The recurrence risk is 15-20% in the first 3-5 years. I have been lucky so far. But many aren't. This research is literally life and death.
This NIH-funded work is trying to figure out why certain types of breast cancer are still deadly today.

If you get diagnosed with breast cancer, hearing that it is 'triple-negative' is terrible news.
This form of cancer is less treatable and it spreads (metastasizes) easily.

We’re working to understand how triple negative breast cancer metastasizes to brain. Women with obesity and diabetes have higher risks for this development. Since 120 million Americans are diabetic or prediabetic, we are not talking about a small number of cases.

I don't even have words for how bad this is. An unelected foreign citizen has full access to the most sensitive data in our government. It's fully illegal and yet not a single elected official is doing anything to stop it.
At OPM, Musk’s staffers won’t leave—they work around the clock and have even installed sofa beds in the office. Our access to data systems has been restricted, raising serious concerns about cybersecurity and a complete lack of oversight. We are keeping our heads down and documenting everything.
