I spent all of Monday and Tuesday watching capstone presentations from students in our program. Media, Medicine and Health at Harvard Medical School.

These people (doctors and future doctors) want to save the world. So many of them are international students. They deserve the wind at their backs.

I promise you, that this point is deeply embedded into anyone who has ever applied for NIH funding. It is a brutal process, one that no researcher considers “charity”.
people need to internalize, very quickly, that federal research grants are a hypercompetitive contracting process not charity, and that what Uncle Sam gets in return for that money is American dominance in the future

Voters just elected one of the most right wing candidates in American history. The narrative that AOC is too radical needs to stop.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has emerged as one of the Democratic Party’s leading voices. But some worry she will turn off the centrist voters needed to win competitive races.
AOC Isn’t Ruling Anything Out, Including the White House
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s rise to prominence worries some Democrats who say the base is taking the wrong lessons from the 2024 election.

This would be like if the President complained about the sun not being up at 2am and then when it rises being like, "you can thank me now!".
Leavitt on Shedeur Sanders: "All I will say is the president put out a statement, and a few rounds later he was drafted, so I think the facts speak for themselves."

Terrible and just so unnecessary. As a junior academic I stood on the shoulders of so many who published in this amazing journal. A huge loss for the field.
And, just like that, the top journal in the field of Environmental Health, published by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a part of the NIH, goes dark...

John Kennedy quoting Gandhi while referring to tariffs was not on my bingo card.
Sen. John Kennedy on Morning Joe: "With tariffs, an eye for an eye just leaves both people blind. When a govt imposes a tariff, it's putting its thumb on the scale. It interferes with people's freedom to exchange goods and services."

Hard to read this spreadsheet without getting enraged. Billions of dollars pulled back from states that were meant to support childhood vaccines and address mental health and substance use. We will pay for these short-sighted cuts, in health and costs to the health care system.
It's getting late on Friday, so you know what that means: HHS has just updated its list of cancelled grants and programs.

The document went from 14 pages long to 42 pages.

Just an incalculable list of cancelled COVID-19 funding.

I'm sick of this from Dems. Why would you give any Trump nominee the benefit of the doubt? Trump can belittle their wives (Ted Cruz!) and they still don't have a backbone to stand up to him. So now you think they would stand up to him on important issues? I demand better from my Democrat leaders.
BASH: You voted to approve Marco Rubio's nomination to be secretary of state. Did you make the right choice?

CHRIS MURPHY: Nope. It was a mistake. It was a mistake. I think a lot of us thought Marco Rubio was going to stand up to Trump on an issue like this.
