How Zombie Movies Can Help You Build Resilience

If a demon ever decides to possess my body, I just hope it's considerate enough to make me vacuum and wash the dishes so that I can come back to a clean house once I am no longer being possessed.

In a way, reality has become much more like a horror movie lately. Everyone is on edge, no one really knows how things are going to go in the future and of course, the werewolves.

What a great time for me to remind everyone about a favorite movie of mine: 1988's BLADES, which serves as a parody of JAWS, but rather than a shark in the water...it's a sentient lawnmower on a golf course. It's absurd and gets strangely cinematic at the end. I remain a loud champion of this film.

I know there are plenty of people out there afraid of werewolves and I get it- but consider a werechicken. Those tiny feathered dinosaurs are scary enough as it is, imagine a flock of them stampeding through a town, pecking at cars and swallowing stray cats whole. Terrifying.

It's always a haunted doll or a haunted mirror. Where are the movies about haunted lawnmowers?

People get so upset when they buy a new house and find out that a ghost lives in it... but did they consider the ghost's feelings? The ghost has probably lived there for 100 years. Then new people barge in, repaint the kitchen -without- asking & act shocked when it flickers the lights. Come on.

doctors in horror movies are like, “i see you have a history of anxiety. here’s some valium. also, i am telling you this for no reason, but don’t worry about the history of your house, where a couple was recently brutally murdered. goodbye.”

There's nothing wrong with being an introvert especially in a horror movie. Turning down the invite to stay at your friends cabin puts distance between you and the lake monster lurking nearby. You can't be taken out if you simply stay in.

Zombie movies are scary because of the zombie factor but it's also scary to have unexpected guests. One minute, you're vacuuming the living room, the next minute you have to barricade your front door to stop hundreds of people yelling brains from ruining your carpet & trying to bite you. Exhausting.

"Not everything has to be perfect for it to be entertaining (and this movie was not perfect), but it hit enough of the right notes to be a very worthy sequel to one of the best horror movies to come out in the past 5 years..."

Why is it that nobody in horror movies believe in a sensible shoe? A one strap slip-on in the middle of a foot chase? Give me a break. Nearly every problem that these people face could be solved if they had the right footwear.

I don't know if there has ever been a more relatable character in a horror movie than the Phantom of the Opera. He has self-esteem issues, wants to live in the ceiling of an opera house & runs around constantly in a cape. He's not a villain, he's just a theater kid.
