Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

Word tip #2! Affect vs. Effect

Think of Star Wars and its special effects. Generally, effect is a noun. Similarly, affect is generally a verb. We affect change, which may have positive effects. I say “generally” because it’s English, a ridiculous hodgepodge of a language.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

I’m not the first (or five hundredth) to observe that the quote from Dune, “Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind,” is rather timely. AI may look like a human mind chugging away, but it’s a shadow of the real thing. We are positively luminous in comparison.

Word tip #1! Less vs Fewer!

If you can count things - if they are in units that can be counted - use ‘fewer’ rather than ‘less.’ This line is for 15 items or fewer. I should drink less soda and more water. #TheMoreYouKnow

As someone with aphantasia, memories are cemented in my mind other ways. I’m sad at how many memories are tied to scents of Crabtree & Evelyn products, the seashell soap and Swiss facial bar especially, also the Sonoma Valley line. The company is gone. It was so lovely.

Every $1 donation provides 4 or 5 meals from food banks. Even a donation of $5 right now can feed up to two dozen people. No, we shouldn’t have to do this. But we can.
Remember that while food banks welcome donations of food, they prefer $$$$$$$. They have deals with grocery stores and suppliers. You can only buy one dollar's worth of food for one dollar, but they can buy several dollars' worth. So don't, like, buy food to donate it, just give 'em the dough.

I’m knitting more, and thinking about knitting.

I don’t complete a lot of projects, and generally say that’s because I enjoy the process more. That’s true, but storing a stack of unfinished projects is a little discouraging and not as satisfying. I finished a thing this week! 1/

Many, many people believe in the healing and restorative powers of prayer.

But that’s not a substitute for stopping kids from getting murdered.

We’re going to Canada the day after tomorrow. I feel the need to apologize, for everything, as soon as we step off the airplane.

So. I’m no longer working at my church, a frankly overdue move that is absolutely the right one for me and my family. A vacation, rest, home projects, and finding *something* outside of home and church are all on my list.

Is there a type of vegetarian who still loves steak and bacon? I think I’m a flexi-baco-vegetarian. Hooray for plant-based adjacent eating!

Yes, yes, the rumors are true — we are OFFICIALLY launching here on Bluesky!

In case you forgot, we’re a place to buy books online where every purchase supports local bookstores, not billionaires.

Thanks for being here 🙌🏽

I now have a partner in crime as I select new victims at the garden store. Stella is *such* an enabler. We came home with two rather large, unexpected blueberry bushes, already laden with baby berries.
