I know voicing my displeasure at things happening in the world will have the same effect as me telling the tide to stop from rolling onto the beach.
But I'm proud that I'll be on the right side of history.
That is my only consolation for this complete feeling of helplessness.

“Working royal” has to be the biggest oxymoron in the English language.

Every novel that I pickup at the library seems to fall into the category of ultra soft cozy mystery with zero stakes or tier 1 operator fighting China in the most clichéd spy novel ever.
It's difficult finding something good these days. Especially since my library is relatively small. #booksky

Went to the library and picked up a book of short stories from famous Twitter poster, and sorta famous writer I guess as well. #booksky

It wild that every writer (sports, culture, comment) who I want to read are now all on paid newsletters. Not long ago, magazines, and websites would have paid for their work and it would have been much more affordable.
I can't justify paying for a newsletter, no matter how good the writing is.

@hollyanderson.bsky.social Holly can I bring to your attention to this skeleton who looks like he has opinions that he's just bursting to share.

I finished reading Never Flinch and enjoyed it. Surprised that so many people online disliked it. A case of different expectations I suppose. Imo, 95% of thriller writers would be happy to write something like this. #booksky

I'm trying to sell some comic trade paperbacks on marketplace that retail for a lot of $$ or are hard to find. A buyer offers me $5 per trade paperback.
I tell him that's too little, and he responds with "well this is from the 90s, the new versions have better graphics!"

It's not been a good year for me finishing books I started. But I did read Velvet was the Night this week and I really enjoyed it. I read this author's Mexican Gothic last year and enjoyed it as well. #bookssky

We've come so far in the last 25 years in terms of the blatant sexism and misogyny that was in advertising, that I'm shocked how outraged people are over a blue jeans commercial which is being lapped up by the infinite horny hordes online.

They just simply thought more complex stuff in school 30+ years ago.
The HS that I went to, which now currently has less than 500 students enrolled due to parents being afraid to send their kids there, used to make students read one of Biskmark's books in their European history class.
one thing that often makes me feel like I’m lost online is that seemingly everyone knows a lot about subjects I know nothing about, either because they went to better schools than I did growing up or they’ve just read extensively about, like, the Franco-Prussian War as a treat

More than 30 years ago I asked my father what his favourite book was and he said it was The Spy Who Came in From The Cold.
Have you read it?
It's probably in tbe top 3 spy novels ever.

It's been a mixed bag this year in terms of books I've read this year. This is good. Surprisingly funny. #booksky

the level of

"not understanding the core conceit of the whole goddamn thing"

fandom managed to achieve with giantbomb is maybe a new record.
Fandom reportedly told Giant Bomb that they needed to be PG-13 and emphasized the importance of "brand safety" so the crew spent the first chunk of today's Bombcast absolutely clowning on the new direction and the phrasing of "brand safety" and Fandom got so mad they took the podcast down lmfao

Good. Hope he keeps it up.
76ers in 14 years with Josh Harris as their owner:

* Zero titles, finals appearances, conference finals appearances

* 7 GMs and 4 head coaches

* Four top-3 picks -- one that's still on the team

* Two of the five worst contracts in the entire NBA

Just a miserable era of basketball.
