Apropos of nothing, morticians in the Victorian era often slid a small pad of cotton under the lids of the dead to both keep the eyes closed and round out the lids to give them a natural, full appearance.
Today, they use plastic contacts with very small spikes to achieve the same effect.

I've always wanted to find a fragrance that smells like D'Artagnan, but I have not found a one that has "embalming fluid" or some similar note. This is not a joke. Whither he bends his steps, a note of embalming fluid clings to him underneath his fougere of oakmoss and lavender.

My favorite era in D'Artagnan's life to think about is when his lover (the Actual Warrior of Light) abandoned him and he spent a full year in formal mourning over it, refusing to leave his rooms, haunting his windows, absolutely crashing out for 12 months.
