Nuzzi, like TCW, exists as a kind of simulacrum of the midcentury public intellectual. Not even ripping off the writers of that era, but imitating a sort of half-remembered, half-invented idea of what those writers were sort of like and what their general vibe was.

They rounded a bunch of random Venezuelans with tats and pretended they were in tren de aragua, then started blowing up random Venezuelan boats they claim “carried drugs,” in order to slowly groom their base into supporting a full ground war on Venezuela that was always about oil
Whole bunch of stuff beginning to make a lot of sense.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

He didn’t tell police or the FBI. He didn’t tell family or friends. The one person he told was ProPublica reporter @josh-kaplan.bsky.social.

I am very proud of @cityandstateny.bsky.social's coverage of Zohran's remarkable campaign. I broke the news he was exploring a run (3 months before he announced). And when he was polling at just 2%, our publisher wrote a prescient column suggesting he could actually win.
Editor’s note: City & State’s groundbreaking coverage of Zohran Mamdani’s rise
Our magazine will continue to be ahead of the curve reporting on campaigns and elections.

🚨New #BoomLawyered: SCOTUS is going to tear down the wall between church and state with this Colorado case involving a religious charter school that wants public funding.

The last time this issue came before the court, ACB had to recuse herself so it was a 4-4 split.

She'll be the fifth vote now.

Raju: Last week, you were very critical of Biden, you said he didn’t even know who was pardoning. On 60 minutes, Trump admitted not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire guilty of money laundering. Is that also concerning?
