Nobody in graduate school warned you that “the long 19th century” just meant we’d still be doing race science and miasma theory well into the 21st century.

I often think about that time in the 80s when singers like Shannon & Teena Marie were huge and singers like Madonna were not. There's something almost mystical about that space that hadn't been filled yet with what now seems weirdly inevitable, even though I don't believe in mystical or inevitable.

Had a dream in which @minxmarple.bsky.social demanded to meet my parents, who, since being long dead, had to be "conjured" back to life, after which I sent a car to the cemetery to pick them up. When they finally met her, they assumed because of her accent that she was a member of the royal family.👑

Anyone organizing/participating in a Queer theory reading group? If not, then what's wrong with you?!
Anyone know of a reading group on Queer Theory? I believe my thinking on this subject is far too idiosyncratic. Could benefit from engaging with more perspectives.

In Times of Genocide, Choose Your Prayers Wisely
In times of fascism, perhaps it's time to stop reciting a Lord's Prayer that's an inaccurate translation.

One of the glorious people I miss most from Twitter is Joey Arias, who is still being magical: www.npr.org/2025/10/11/n...

I’m dressing up for Halloween as slutty Stepford Wives Girlboss.
&(like with tradwife stuff) we'll get arguments abt how books with normative hetero relationships that double down on 1950s gender roles are actually very feminist because women write them &like reading them. They'll sell Stepford Wives as girlboss goals

I foolishly thought that by following a policy of only translating the long dead that my work would be less stressful, less filled w conflict but then you’re sucked into family/heir drama w even more lawyers & academic territorial pissing contests.
i'm so angry. what does it mean when your job makes you angry all the time? when you do crucial work, award-winning work, and the people whose careers you built for them still treat you like dirt, like you're replaceable. it is SO SHITTY being a translator
