All the political players are in Atlantic City this week, and so is our message! New Jersey is facing a fiscal crisis and we can’t afford to wait. Raising progressive revenue from billionaires is fair, sustainable, and popular!

Tell legislators: It is urgent that New Jersey enacts new progressive revenue and prioritize passage of this package of bills in lame duck. They are urgently needed to help protect the people of New Jersey and we can't afford delay.

From the NJEA Convention: educators know what’s at stake. A fair tax system that asks billionaires to contribute more means stronger schools, thriving communities, and a better future for all.

Here’s the headline: “Families who rely on food to survive are being held hostage because Congress gave tax cuts to billionaires.”

More than 800,000 New Jerseyans depend on SNAP, including 340,000 children. They shouldn't suffer for Washington's dysfunction.

The cost of living keeps rising for working families while the wealthiest are doing better than ever. We can begin to address affordability in New Jersey by raising taxes on super millionaires and big corporations who just got a huge tax cut from Congress.

💰 The top 10% get perks worth 2.3% of their income.
💔 The poorest 10% would lose benefits worth 3.9% of their income.

⌛ Funny how the benefits for the wealthiest last forever, but fringe ones for everyone else come with an expiration date.

Taxing the rich is good policy in more fairly asking those who have accumulated the most wealth from our society to pay more.

BUT an underappreciated additional benefit of taxing the rich is reducing the risk of an unaccountable wealthy class that evades basic societal rules.

Kids are heading back to school this week. Here’s a math problem for them:
One millionaire gets an $80,000 tax cut.
Q: How many people lose their health insurance?
A: 4.

The tax cuts for millionaires in the law — averaging $80,000 per household — will cost the same as the health care cuts that will take health insurance away from 4.7 million people by 2034.

The truth is simple: affordable housing benefits everyone.

Yet too often, policymakers sabotage NJ's economic resilience by under-funding affordable housing & blocking developments — deciding who belongs, and who doesn’t.

We knew the budget outlook was bad — but it’s worse than we thought.

This new report from @njpolicy.bsky.social shows how NJ’s FY26 budget deepens inequality, shortchanges public needs, and sets us up for a fiscal cliff.

This isn’t governing. It’s deferring disaster.
New Jersey's FY 2026 budget could have been a moment of courage.

Instead, the budget process went on autopilot, cutting back revenue increases and dipping deeper into state cash reserves, while failing to protect residents from federal cuts.
