2025-11-04: UPS MD-11F (N259UP, *1991) suffered an engine #1 explosion on take-off runway 17R at Louisville-Intl AP(KSDF), KY with 3 crew on board, lost height and crashed about 1 mile S of the runway. All occupants of flight #UP2956 to Honolulu perished. Also, 4 people on the ground died.

2025-10-20: ACT Airlines (on ops for Emirates Cargo) Boeing 747-400F(TC-ACF,*1993) was destroyed during landing runway 07L at Hong Kong-Intl AP(VHHH), China-HK when flight #EK9788 veered to the left, striking the perimeter wall, ending up in the water. Two persons on the ground were fatally injured.

2025-10-18: Air China Airbus A321 (B-8583,*2017) en-route from Hangzhou to Seoul-ICN (#CA139) safely diverted to Shanghai-PVG following a thermal runaway of a Li-ion battery in an overhead compartment about 40 min into flight. The fire was contained by the cabin crew.

South American airline group Abra will lease up to 7 A330-900s from Avolon.

These would be the first A330neos for the airline group; its subsidiary Avianca flies passenger 787s and freighter A330s, and Wamos Air flies passenger A330s.

2025-10-04: EVA Air Boeing 787-9 (B-17881, *2018) sustained damage due to a tailstrike on landing runway 16L at Taipei-Intl AP(RCTP), Taiwan. Flight #BR711 went around and returned for a safe landing on the same rwy 15 min later. No one was hurt.

If Spirit doesn’t disappear entirely as a result of this bankruptcy, they will definitely disappear from most of the US with barely 100 aircraft.
Spirit Airlines has filed documents with the bankruptcy court to reject 87 (!!) aircraft leases — 19 A320ceos, 65 A320neos (71% of its 320neo fleet) and 3 A321neos.

That would leave the airline with just 127 planes (down from 214 in August) if approved.

2025-09-30: SkyHigh Dominicana Embraer E-190 (HI1074, *2007) sustained damage when it landed with its nosegear retracted at Santo Domingo-Intl AP(MDSD), Dom.Rep. The aircraft came to a halt on runway 17, and all 7 occupants were safe. The E190 was on a test flight.
