There are DEFINITELY enough artists and animators out there to sustain a happy and healthy business providing specialty products and software to people within that community. What there isn’t, is a large enough consumer base to make the line go up forever for shareholders

This is why every company that makes specialized tools for particular communities starts to fall apart when they set their sights on increasing shareholder value, because that always means “find a way to make this product with specific utility appealing to people outside of that community”

They don’t care if the niche community that needs the product gets left out in the cold because the goal isn’t to provide them with the tool they need, it’s to convince a lot of other people outside that community that they need it and then cut and run when the numbers stop going up

Charging per creation was the only way a lot of artists had any flexibility. I don't even have a huge income on there and having to choose between being "on" and losing out on a car payment really sucks.

I'm finding as the years go on with me making comics that are primarily black and white, I am getting more readers commenting on 'why it's not in colour' and many others not reading because there isnt colour to begin with... that sure does stink!

Fully backed. Creator voices clearly only matter so much. The people actually spending money on the product may be a different story. If you can, let Patreon know how badly decisions like this disrupt the lives of creators, and that they should prioritise those creators before App Store placement.

Patreon is only bowing to apple and getting rid of our billing models because someone convinced them all members care more about having an ios app than supporting a creator. This is the reason they have given us over and over. Please correct them.
