There is much that is "unprecedented" about the Trump Administration. I'm not convinced the attack on Venezuela is, however.

A lot of readers and critics in the English speaking world read García Márquez's novels as though they were set in some hodge-podge Latin fantasy land, rather than being very much rooted in the history and culture of Colombia's Carribbean coast.

This is so jarringly unAmerican that I sort of hope it wakes some normies up. It is occurring in a context where military-style equipment is being used to enforce immigration roundups and conveys the notion that we are increasingly living in a police state.
