Ons thing that's really bugging me about the "PhD level intelligence" is that a PhD isn't a measure of intelligence, it's a measure of commitment to study and specialisation in a narrow field (and opportunity to do so).

Ons thing that's really bugging me about the "PhD level intelligence" is that a PhD isn't a measure of intelligence, it's a measure of commitment to study and specialisation in a narrow field (and opportunity to do so).

Ein Ueberbleibsel aus den frühen Tagen der Forschungsstelle zu Hamburgs (post-)kolonialem Erbe, von der wir uns gestern Abend in den alten Räumen verabschiedet haben. Mein Projekt dort lag schon länger auf Eis, nun wurde die dortige Forschung durch die ausbleibende Finanzierung komplett gestoppt. 😢😢

Could not agree more! My book, Saving Apartheid: White Internationalism at the End of the Cold War, traces exactly this transatlantic connection between apartheid and the American right from 1980 to 1994. Out with Columbia University Press late 2025/early 2026!
based on some reading i'm doing at the moment, there is a book to be written — if it already hasn't been — on defense of apartheid south africa as the great international cause of the american right

Vor dem Haus in der Skalitzer Straße 32 in #Kreuzberg liegen heute Abend Blumen. Hier lebte Margot #Friedländer mit ihrer Mutter und ihrem Bruder - bis 1943 die Gestapo kam. Auguste und Ralph starben in Auschwitz. Margot überlebte - im Untergrund, später Theresienstadt.
