So this is where everyone's been hanging out while I've been waiting patiently on Mastodon!

Looking forward to reconnecting with all my SEO friends from the dead bird app and to meeting some new folk too (obviously)!

What really frustrates me is when someone sees firsthand that LLMs are incapable of differentiating between fact and fiction when it comes to a subject they know about, but then they go right ahead and keep on using it!

It's been one of those weeks 😩

Built a lovely Looker Studio report that's been working perfectly for months & today it's breaking left, right & centre. I do not have the patience for this on a Friday.

Today is Remembrance Day in many countries. Can we please take a moment to also remember the innocent civilians who have lost their lives & continue to do so in current war-torn countries.

War is not the answer. Never has been, never will be.

If you're using a cloud provider to host images / videos / other content, you can and should verify the host in Search Console, so that you're aware of potential issues that affect Google's crawling & indexing, & Safe Browsing. Use a DNS CNAME to the bucket, then verify with DNS. More: (1/n)

🌶️🧠 Being "neurospicy" or "care about what others care about" Really enjoyed this talk by Myriam Jessier on unique traits of people with ADHD. Anyone can benefit from it as a way to build empathy and compassion for better relationships with people you care about and work with. 👀 My favourite two snippets: 1. You can't pick just the good parts; you get the full package only. (This mental model is a great fix for jealousy too.) 2. Creating a user manual or blueprint to share context with others on your working style can improve collaboration. Insights that resonated with me: 👉 Stress and anxiety may trigger hyper-focus, but it's an elusive state 👉 Lists don't work → overanalyzing expands 3 bullets to 30 without doing any 👉 Interrupt me, because I can keep talking 👉 Get to the point; I get bored easily, even by my own sentences 👉...

Happiness on a Friday is having a client call where the client is in full agreement about simplifying their website architecture and letting go of things the website doesn't need.

Have you come across the term 'Shadow AI'?

More business need to be aware of how they could be unwittingly causing data security breaches through ML.

ChatGPT doesn’t have access to Google’s search data. It can’t tell you real search volumes. It can’t analyse actual ranking difficulty. It can’t crawl your website to find technical issues. It can’t show you your competitors’ backlink profiles.

The short version: if you serve tech-savvy audiences, your GA4 "new users" metric is about to get weird for a few weeks.

Feeling validated in my thinking around the use of LLMs thanks to @judithlewis.bsky.social

You need to check all outputs!! LLMs don't understand language the way humans do. Language is ambiguous so LLMs will always get things wrong as they translate that into maths.

I don't understand people... don't they realise governments hold all this information about them anyway?!

Plus, they're happy to share even more personal details every day on social media which is leaving their lives even more exposed to the wrong types of people 🤦‍♀️

I had a free trial of Amazon Music & luckily had the sense to note down in my diary to cancel it before it renewed & debited my account. They automatically have the renewal reminder option switched off - how is that allowed?!
