The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

So just to be clear: The US is propping up Argentina’s economy, and now Argentina can eliminate its export taxes, so it can sell tons of soybeans to China, so China isn’t forced to buy soybeans from the US, so the US can pay subsidies to keep our farmers solvent.

China expands Argentina soybean buying to 20 cargoes, traders say
Chinese importers kept up a hectic pace of Argentine soybean purchases after the South American supplier's move to abolish export taxes temporarily made its prices competitive, traders said on Wednesday.

The DFL and DNC should be shouting about this legislation, subsequent enforcement, and labor participation from the rooftops! It's political malpractice to not be pushing this in every state possible

Finally updated the tariff calculations to incorporate the 50% copper tariffs, 40% tariff on Brazilian imports, and 5-31% tariff on imports from 94 countries that Trump has signed over the last 24 hours—overall tariff rates rise more than 2%, and are now 16% higher than pre-Trump

It's infuriating how 99% of the coverage of this new war doesn't bother to mention that it is happening because we had an agreement to limit and monitor Iran's nuclear program, which even Trump's own aides said was working, and he blew it up because it was negotiated under Obama.

Just got fired from being a freshman football coach, if you want to know what MAGA does to communities.

They don’t care about what helps people, because the school is certainly not going to find an ex-NFL player willing to coach there at that level, they only care about trying to hurt people.

Here's the reality about the #LAFires this week: this isn't the first time ANY of these places have burned. Not even close. In 2018, we mapped CA fire history to look at fire frequency across SoCal. Santa Monica Mtns area burns more than anywhere else -- up to once per decade in a given spot. 🧵

@downgoesbrown.bsky.social can we get a confirm on this?

And any other first name lines that we should be aware of?
Random thought during my day off: #mnwild first line tonight has to be an NHL first.

Each forward’s first name starts with “Ma”

This piece touches on what we already know - the folks who want to burn it all down against their own self interest have learned nothing.
Johnson went home in the wee hours of Saturday morning following yet another skin-of-the-teeth legislative success. Gaetz spent his weekend sullenly awaiting the release of the House Ethics Committee’s report. Who do you think MAGA prefers?
