UK Parents and Residents concerned about the rapid expansion of polluting plastic sports pitches on our Green Spaces. Harmful to the environment, wildlife and human health, particularly children vulnerable to chemical pollution.
Pitch refused due to loss of green-space & noise pollution. Plastic pitches also cause biodiversity loss, microplastic pollution of water, soil, air, wildlife & human bodies. PFAS pollution, light & traffic pollution, Urban Heat Islands & privatisation of public space.

🎉 Great news for children and parents across Europe!

👏 EU legislators have agreed a revised law that bans the most harmful chemicals including EDCs, concerning bisphenols, and #PFAS, in toys.

The deal will have to be adopted by Council and Parliament.

After years of burying their heads in the sand while levels of PFAS pollution build, Parliament is finally investigating forever chemical pollution. Will this lead to action on what Prof Patrick Byrne has called "the greatest chemical threat facing humankind" or just more platitudes?

Fluoropolymers are in artificial turf processes. Sport England state that they are chemicals of low concern. However, SE based this on info supplied to them by employees of companies that manufacture fluoropolymers. Last year 59 leading PFAS experts disagreed that fluoropolymers are of low concern.
F-gases and Fluoropolymers frequently come up in the #PFAS conversation— but what exactly are they? 🤔

To put it really simply:
🔹 Fluoropolymers = PFAS plastics
🔹 F-gases = PFAS gases

Rubber crumb pitch infill is the largest source of intentionally added microplastic pollution in Europe. Children inhale & ingest the tyre micro & nanoplastics. It also enters the body through cuts/grazes. See link for more info on this #lewisham campaign dacrescommunity.org

The EU chemical regulation policy is very far from perfect. The European Environmental Bureau highlights it takes weeks to get a chemical registered for use in Europe, then decades to fully safety check that chemical. But the UK is falling behind even that.
