Plastic Free Fields
@fieldmole.bsky.social
UK Parents and Residents concerned about the rapid expansion of polluting plastic sports pitches on our Green Spaces. Harmful to the environment, wildlife and human health, particularly children vulnerable to chemical pollution.
East Lindsey District Council are cleaning up tonnes of nurdles from the beach whilst at the same time proposing to spill tonnes of tyre waste microplastics on Wood Lane playing field! Artificial Turf fibres are also a major pollutant of the marine environment www.newscientist.com/article/2383...

Rubber crumb pitch infill is the largest source of intentionally added microplastic pollution in Europe. Children inhale & ingest the tyre micro & nanoplastics. It also enters the body through cuts/grazes. See link for more info on this #lewisham campaign dacrescommunity.org

Please also look at where rest of Europe's recycled tyres end up - on our green-space, school playing fields & playgrounds. Polluting communities, wildlife & bodies. Shredded tyres contain hundreds of harmful chemicals including carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, reproductive & developmental hazards
