The Freedom From Religion Foundation is a national 501 (c)(3) nonprophet nonprofit, with 40,000 nonreligious members working to keep state and church separate.
FFRF put a stop to one cross-country coach's pre-practice group prayers in an Ohio school district, a practice that was allegedly common for sports teams across the district.

It’s wild when the UK, a country with an official state church, is the one recognizing religious instruction as indoctrination.

Meanwhile, Christian nationalist leaders here are sprinting in the opposite direction with Ten Commandments mandates, bible lessons, and school-sponsored proselytizing.
"Indoctrination."

That’s how the UK Supreme Court described religious education in Northern Ireland's public schools.

Their ruling against the Christian-centric curriculum will change how faith is taught throughout the country.

Reading this story is gut-wrenching.

A church coerced children into forgiving their abuser, ignored the law, and let him keep harming others.

No religious institution should ever be trusted to police itself when children’s safety is on the line.

Public schools are not required to buy religious curriculum with taxpayer dollars.

Parents can choose faith-based materials at home, but public educators must stick to secular, evidence-based standards.

That’s not “discrimination.”

The Department of Education isn’t the problem.

The problem is politicians who fear a well-educated, secular generation that can spot authoritarian nonsense a mile away.
