Sen. Tina Smith: “Donald Trump clearly has the authority to keep SNAP funding during this shutdown. He is just refusing to do it…Americans should not be forced by this President to choose between health care and food.”

What a great experience, protesting at City Hall today in Houston. Thousands of peaceful protesters, chanting and marching together. Well done, Houston!

Was just talking about this topic today at a conference. Thanks!

Is SEO dead?

No, but it is evolving.

Just gave a talk on this topic at DigiMarCon Gulf Coast. Key takeaways:
- Prioritize branded search
- Invest in PR for brand awareness
- For non-branded search focus on select keywords
- Optimize social media for search
- Tailor content for AI

I did not have meeting @randfish.bsky.social on my San Diego bingo card—but that’s what happened last night at Blue Water Seafood.

Thanks for being so gracious and kind when I interrupted your dinner to introduce myself, Rand. It was really a pleasure chatting with you for a minute.

Rep. Crow: “It’s outrageous. And it is a leadership failure. And that’s why Secretary Hegseth, who undoubtedly transmitted classified, sensitive operational information via this chain, must resign immediately. There can be no fixes…until there is accountability.”

They’re not going to get out of this by playing semantics.

Sending detailed information about an upcoming military strike on unclassified channels (and even to the wrong guy) is wrong, reckless, and obviously a threat to American troops.

Top intelligence committees need to begin an investigation into Pete Hegseth's epic Signal chat mishap. ASAP.

There should be televised hearings so all Americans have transparency on how such an enormous breach of national security could take place in first place.

WTF. This is insane.

For so many seniors, there would be no money for food, rent, or prescriptions without their Social Security check. Howard Lutnick says if they complain about missing a check, they're a fraudster.
Trump’s commerce secretary Howard Lutnick says if Social Security skipped a check, his mother-in-law wouldn’t complain—and if you would, it indicates you are probably a fraudster. Insane.

Trump isn’t cutting waste and abuse. He’s cutting programs that help regular people - like Medicaid - to fund tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. He only closes agencies that were stopping his rich friends bilk consumers.

📢 The rules of search have changed.

Google, social platforms, and AI search results are keeping users on their own platforms more than ever.

The old model of ranking → getting clicks → driving traffic is breaking down. So how do SEOs and marketers measure success now? 🧵👇

Kind of feels like there wasn’t a mandate to destroy the health insurance program that covers 24% of Americans in order to fund a giant tax giveaway for billionaires and corporations, but maybe it’s just me.

Rand is right (again). And this is what I tell our clients: you want to improve your SEO? Invest in PR.

And I’ve been saying this since 2021. Here’s the receipt:

PR and earned media still matter.
From everything I've heard & learned about the popular LLM models, this is correct.

Getting your brand mentioned alongside the right words/phrases in authoritative media is one of the most effective ways to show up in AI answers.
