I'm sure someone has written more intelligently about this, but it's striking how tech companies use disability as a benevolent rationale for their work. For ex., Neuralink's website describes helping paraplegics as the company's main goal. Meanwhile, Musk is ranting about creating cyborgs.

Money.

That’s it.

Someone who seems to have money and makes a lot of money MUST be great, because if he doesn’t.. then the whole system is a scam.

Disabled people are not your enemy.

Immigrants are not your enemy.

Trans people are not your enemy.

We are scapegoats to make people believe they can have a better life at our expense.

A better life is possible if you tax the wealthy. If the billionaire class is abolished.

If we are cared for.

Claire is spot on here.

And the dehumanization, hazing, enslavement, and chronic consent- and boundary-violations of children is the air we breathe.

Folks wonder how we, the adults, go this way.

Well... we were all children.

And most of us were treated as if less than fully human for decades.
The belief that children in Texas deserve death because their parents might be trump voters is a direct result of our refusal to see children as autonomous people with rights.

If your child is an appendage that deserves whatever you deserve, they can’t really also be individuals.

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

Hey, so I am semi-retired from disability advocacy, but in light of what happened today, I want to talk about what it actually means to support disabled people.

Lots of people thought that, until today, when you become disabled, there is a safety net waiting.

That has never been true.

I’ve long said that a lot of the resistance to adequately funding research into MECFS and long COVID is that a lot of medical professionals are ideologically opposed to the idea of a condition where exercise makes you worse.
A new study suggests that exercise doesn’t clear microclots in people with Long COVID—it just fragments them into smaller ones. These smaller clots are linked to increased inflammation and impaired oxygen transport, which may help explain PEM & PESE—the worsening of symptoms after even mild effort.

You are enough just as you are.

Your value isn’t based on your wealth, health, job or ability to produce for capitalism

We all have intrinsic worth

When we reduce people to what they can “do” for us, we’re ceding ground to fascists.

When we other people & decide some are expendable, we’ve lost

Disabled people aren’t “burdens”.

We aren’t “economically inactive”.

We aren’t “useless eaters”.

We’re people, the same as you. We deserve to be treated with the same dignity & care as everyone else.

When you use terms like those above, you’re spewing eugenics talking points which fuel fascism.

The Nazis targeted disabled people first & pioneered the term “useless eater”

They convinced the masses that we were less than”. People taking up resources & not contributing in any way.

When Dr Oz says we must “prove our worth” to get Medicaid, he’s just resurrecting the concept.

Don’t let him

Trump, RFK Jr & Dr Oz want to convince people that chronic illness is avoidable. That a “healthy lifestyle” will ensure you never become disabled. They want to blame the sick so they can eliminate them.

Don’t fall for it. Disability isn’t a choice or a moral failing. It can happen to anyone.

Being chronically ill means living a life of constant upheaval.

You can do everything “right” & your body still rebels.

It’s why we have to cancel plans & say no to things we really want to do

We aren’t lazy. We don’t dislike you. We’re trying to manage our energy while our body works against us.

This will be devastating to the disability community

Telehealth was a game changer for us. It was something people had begged to access for years, because healthcare settings are so inaccessible.

Remote medicine allows us to save money, spoons and avoid hospital acquired infections.
BREAKING: The Trump administration has announced that it will kill Medicare coverage of most telehealth services on April 1st.
