Excellent discourse.
This will be my sole contribution to SOTU discourse.

Ok if you’ve been following Colossal’s woolly mice PR stunt you need to read this thread. 🦣
Once upon a time, in the late 1800s, people in Japan got really into breeding mice.

Coloured mice. Patterned mice. Even mice that danced.

They became known as Japanese Fancy Mice, and that caught the attention of researchers in Europe and America, who imported them for study.

Who is this for? D.C. already has a conservative broadsheet (Washington Times). For a while there was also a free tabloid-style rag (Washington Examiner) but that went online only a while ago.
Scoop: As Jeff Bezos pushes The Washington Post in a rightward direction, publisher Will Lewis quietly met last month with the editor in chief of the Free Beacon where the two discussed recruiting conservative journalists.

"It was never going to be easy or painless to perform this surgery. So the plan to strap you to a board and let some maniac saw away at you with a steak knife while you scream is OK."
🧵It was never going to be easy or painless to overturn decades of free-trade policies that have failed working people, but we have to think in years, not days.

The behavior described here isn't just unprofessional and uncollegial, it's gross and unnecessary. And, people can see it.
seeing zero credit out there for recent scoops. just a reminder i’m not your publication’s assignment editor.

I haven't traveled outside of the US much but based on scant observation I suspect that people in the US who have never left the states might be under the impression that the rest of the world thinks we're as super fab and groovy as we think they think we are.

Not.
Even.
Close.

Here is the post I promised on the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in Carlsbad, NM, and why it's a bad idea to eliminate the DOE office there.

It'll be up on LGM in a few minutes.
Musk Attacks The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant
Last night a report came through that Musk’s boys want to eliminate the DOE office in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It’s not clear if they are terminating the lease for the building or firing the people to…

Just a random observation that the easy-to-refute-with-5-seconds-of-research (or driving through parts of the country where there are crumbling towns around an abandoned factory) belief that the U.S. is entirely self-sufficient is one reason we're going to hear a lot of shocked whining soon.

We are prepping a "who the hell is Jack Posobiec" podcast episode (or two... or three... there's a lot) and I have been in awe watching @michaelehayden.bsky.social and our guest (TBA) unearth/revisit an excruciating amount of detail about the guy's life and political career. VERY excited for this.

Same Problem with all this conspiracy frauds.
You can rage against the system as long as someone else takes the burden of upholding the system.
The second you become responsible, the only thing you can rage against, is reality. And she tends to be a harsh mistress.

The state of the union is that the President is spitting in the face of the law.

He is letting an unelected billionaire fire cancer researchers and wreck federal agencies like the Social Security Administration at will.
