Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

Stop conflating the Jewish people with Israel's genocide.

Those who present opposition to Israeli war crimes as attacks on the Jewish people aren't just deeply cynical - they are dangerously irresponsible.

As Yom Kippur ends, it is terrible that a holy day has seen people killed at a place of worship in Manchester

I hope many of us will express solidarity + support for Jews in Britain, and work with them + those of every faith and none to deepen our efforts to tackle antisemitism, hatred + extremism

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

In case you are wondering, the backlog of asylum applications, at this point, in August 2023, was about 175,000.

Far from "clearing it" by the end of that year, Jenrick resigned to pursue his leadership bid. The backlog left behind by the Tories eleven months later was about 225,000. ~AA
A reminder: Asylum seekers are in hotels because of a huge application backlog that the gov't must work through. Robert Jenrick - now, bursting with creative solutions - processed applications slowly ***on purpose*** as a deterrent.

Here he is, as Immigration Minister two years ago, saying so. ~AA

Quite. And anybody who wants to go back to the good old days when London was less crowded, whiter and poorer should listen to Down in the Tube Station at Midnight (released when I was 12 and it terrified me).
I always enjoy reading the TripAdvisor London Forum because I'm fascinated to see what foreign tourists expect, what they ask about and what surprises them. I thought this post from someone from Texas was a really lovely and cheering comment about riding the tube late at night

I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts.

The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative.
