If you're a Rust programmer, your take away from the incident should not be that you should not unwrap, but it should be that you need to have a strategy for handling panicking, and you need to consider that strategy every time you unwrap, and ensure that recovery is properly implemented and tested

This means that NVIDIA has agreed to invest "up to" $10bn in Anthropic, but has not agreed to invest a single dollar in OpenAI. Good thing everybody wrote that NVIDIA had "invested $100bn" as if it happened

Last night I gave a talk to a local AI group about how AI is ruining knitting, the thesis of which was "I want my creative endeavors to have soul in them."

One of the follow up questions was, "if AI didn't suck at generating patterns, would there be an appetite for them?"

Look, for fuck’s sake, humans have been migrating continuously for our entire existence.

Every single human in the world is the product of migration.

It’s what humans do. There is nothing *more* human.

That’s never going to change.

Just grow up, get the fuck over it and plan accordingly.

Another day another migration story. Terrifying in here tho is the reform of the ECHR she will attempt. This will be Labour's biggest and most dangerous mistake, I GUARANTEE. It will set up the infrastructure for a Reform govt. to dismantle all our protections. news.sky.com/story/home-s...

The consequences of the recent GEMA vs. OpenAI decision will be very interesting for "coding agents" and the sources they vomit out. Cause a lot of the code their developers accumulated is GPL-licensed.

The people who will most profit from this quality and connection-sapping technology being assumed to be inevitable, want you to give up on pushing against it today, by believing that fight is already over.

Don’t give in.
Don’t be fooled.
Don’t accept the thing already making our medium worse.

The BBC should serve as an example to all that there is nothing you can give the far rabid right that will satisfy it.

It has simpered, pandered, soft-balled and fluff-jobbed, both-sidesed and debased itself into being a platform for liars to look down the camera and lie on, & it still gets fucked.
