So the thing about AI is that it’s a probability machine. All of LLM is just a statistical regurgitation of whatever it was trained on. Things like prompts will certainly sway it more towards certain kinds of responses; but the training data determines what it’s capable or outputting.

I have been playing this game in much the same way that I watch films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie from the 90s—not because it’s super good, but because around every corner is something hilariously janky, yet familiar. It’s such a laugh, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the horse hijinx.

Y'know, I'd been considering grabbing this game right up until someone compared it to Outer Wilds. I really did not get on with the repetitive parts of that game. Bored me too much, made me too motion sick, and at some point I just gave up trying to be interested in it.

So I dunno, maybe I'll pass.

For the last month I have done very little but think about, talk about, and play Blue Prince. It's sort of like a cross between Slay the Spire and Outer Wilds — you progress by gaining knowledge — but it's also much more than that.

It is one of the most incredible games I have played in my life.

Also, more importantly, the streamer drama portion of this story barely matters! The problem Piker pointed to during the stream that got him suspended – a former CEO of a healthcare company that copped a record $1.7 billion in fines going on to dodge material consequences, walk away with $10 million in severance and $300 million in stock options, and become a US senator – is an issue of so much more consequence than Piker's word choice that these things are not remotely comparable. It is deranged that millions of people are getting their news from creators who act like a damn Twitch streamer using harsh language to state documented facts is where this story starts and ends, rather than in the halls of actual power. We’re all being robbed. It’s as clear as day. There was an (alleged) murder about it, and many people sided with the (alleged) murderer. Think about why political pundits and content creators might now be incentivized to muddy the waters, especially where healthcare is concerned. Think about how they might stand to benefit from your distraction, even as normal people’s material circumstances degrade by the day. Think about how platforms make themselves complicit by algorithmically incentivizing outrage and drama-of-the-day dogpiles over discussion that threatens the status quo. Anybody who frames this conflict in any other way – who suggests different stakes or a different central cast of characters – is either deeply unserious or outright lying to you. Do not listen to them. Odds are, they’re trying to rob you too.

When United Fruit Company workers were bulldozing the Costa Rican jungle, they began finding these enigmatic spherical stones ("petrospheres") made of 'gabbro', a basaltic stone.

Thinking they might contain treasure, workers tried drilling or blowing them up.

Let's talk about the 'Diquís Spheres'.

During a follow up broadcast today, Hoffstetter and Watts, still visibly shaken up, told viewers more about what happened before and after the stream clip that went viral, noting that they had to “hide in a shed for 15 minutes until cops came” after receiving what they felt was insufficient aid from workers at Santa Monica Pier (though Watts added that she didn’t think it was workers’ fault). The two also asked viewers to provide any additional details they might have to help identify the man. They went on to defend themselves against online suggestions that the situation wasn’t particularly serious because the man didn’t seem to have a weapon, which is a totally fucked thing to even need to do when there is clear video footage of somebody trying to assault you. “He put his stuff on the ground to fistfight Emily,” said Hoffstetter during today’s stream. “I am in hindsight very thankful that we were in the area that we were and that we were able to go into the store, because I think if we had been anywhere else on the pier, it would have been a very different situation,” said Watts. “Please take this stuff very seriously. It can happen to anybody if you’re male or female, but if you ask any girl streamer, they all have stories.”
