66 years later, NY is somehow still here, unfortunately. Stupid wrong prediction.
And in 1959, at the centennial celebration of the American Oil Industry, physicist Edward Teller told a room of more than 300 ppl that burning petrol caused a greenhouse effect

That if they kept going, New York & all coastal places would soon be underwater 🧪

Newly unearthed documents contain warning from head of Air Pollution Foundation, founded in 1953 by oil interests

Okay but watching people melt down about this was hilarious. The sacred merely shifted, the profane now something infinitely more approachable.
I honestly thought the techbros couldnt sink lower than that fool who used AI to finish Keith Haring's “Unfinished Painting” (Haring haring died of HIV, but he left that painting "unfinished" intentionally, and its unfinished state was the whole point).

Boy was I wrong.

I hate to Talk Sports, but, man, it really bugs me -- stringently devoted to underdogs since childhood -- when any team in any sport basically takes all the best players. It's yucky.

Think the TikTok ban is gonna crush me.

TT has been an important space for me the last 2 years, it’s helped me understand myself so much more with all the content from the ND community.

If you think I’m overreacting, then you don’t get what’s great about TT, and this post ain’t for you.

So the presidency is a coronated dictatorship.
If it wasn’t already fucked up enough, the dictator coronation ceremony of the treasonous orange rapist racist convicted felon lands on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Day. So disgusting.

It’s amazing to me that politicians don’t commit to post first on @bsky.app and to engage with constituents here

THIS is more powerful than CNN , MSNBC, The Post will ever be.

You can broadcast for 9 mins on a declining medium, or engage here and start a real discussion.

Which is more powerful?

Wish I was that ugly.
one of the things I think about sometimes is how much my psychological wellbeing as a young adult, and to some degree my career, depended upon friendships and mentoring by people 20-40 years older than me, and how, as a guy, I didn't have to worry that there were other motives than kindness involved

Posts like this are designed to guilt women into stay-at-home motherhood. Because if this is what counts as "good mothering," then there's no way to be a "good mom" working for pay full-time.

Better idea: pass a comprehensive data privacy bill that applies across the board... and maybe *DON'T* mimic Chinese authoritarianism by creating a "Great Firewall" of apps that aren't allowed to operate here.

You can actually fix things AND not abuse the 1st Amendment in one shot!
I’m concerned that Americans are flocking to a number of adversary-owned social media platforms. We still need a comprehensive and risk-based approach to assessing and mitigating the risks of foreign-owned apps.

Not really sure we need all these experts if there was such a magic switch, And not really sure how it was such a pervasive problem that changed world events if it was so controlled.
Get ready for the return of “Pope Endorses Donald Trump” and other similar viral bullshit.

This is part of the redefinition of “freedom of speech” to mean “freedom from moderation,” where any limit on algorithmic boosting or virality at all is “”censorship””.
