Worrying development. No way can an AI narrated audiobook match the best human narrators
Having just gone through this myself:
a) Voice actors are artists that bring a huge amount of depth, nuance and flavor, even to non-fiction books like mine.
b) Getting a book audio-recorded is shockingly cheap. Way cheaper than you'd expect.
c) Fuck off.

The nuances in tone, the landing of a punchline, the twin joys of reading out loud and listening to what is being read.
These are human traits and human pleasures and AI cannot deliver it - only imitate.
