Clive Barker's "In the Hills, the Cities" is an all-timer, and John Bolton's art is equally awesome/nightmarish.

Don't know who needs to hear this, but I can be extremely entertained by MTG's face turn while still understanding that she's a terrible person who I would never support. She's like a stupid Hannibal Lecter in that way.

Sure, why not.
Breaking from us:

As the Trump administration searches for more space to detain immigrants, it is approaching Washington tribes to see if they will participate.

Nisqually Indian Tribe is saying no.

TIL there's a lost Corey Haim film called SHOOTER ON THE SIDE. I know experts like @bradfhenderson.bsky.social will remind me that there are hundreds of "lost" movies, but having no copy of a film from 1996 just seems wild to me.

I have questions about this weird-ass list, with the most important one being why is Woody Allen on here twice?
What is a no-context list that nobody wants to be on?

"Self-Portrait, Yawning" by Joseph Ducreux

Went to the Getty a couple weeks ago -- it's beautiful and free and I can't recommend it enough -- and this was by far my favorite piece of art there. I dig this guy's entire vibe.

I wanted to come back this post because I’m working on an endeavor that involves publishing about action. And I want some input! Could folks here tell me what they’re looking for in action film coverage they want more of? What interests you that’s undercovered? Tell me great writers you love!
Just a rando Friday night thought:

I wanna see more women becoming voices in action film discussion in 2026. The last 13± years have been cool but it's mostly a sausage fest, and some of these dudes are just enabled, untested dickwads who think they're cool but aren't. Something needs changing.

Age limits, term limits, the same health insurance systems the rest of us use... endlessly frustrating that implementing these common sense limitations on Congress requires Congress itself to approve them.

They don't have to face reelection, but they should be harassed whenever they show their faces in public for the rest of their lives.
The fact that none of the 8 Dems are up for re-election in 2026 is a pretty good sign @schumer.senate.gov engineered the surrender

Oh the FSAs.
The FSAs where you have to pay and get reimbursed.
So you're paying twice.
And have to keep track of receipts and take time to apply.
And assume you'll get the reimbursement from the federal offices they gutted.
And the reimbursement doesn't include the taxes you paid.

Those FSAs?
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown
A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The Senate exists for the same reason that the ACA doesn't have a public option: it was negotiated to placate the necessary votes. Slave states were nervous about being beholden to public will so we massively over-elevated state representation. www.law.cornell.edu/constitution...
