Today, U.S. District Judge Jia M. Cobb ordered a halt to the president’s unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to D.C.

This ruling provides an important check on presidential power and makes it clear that when we defend D.C., we defend democracy.

Why have you not certified the funds yet, Glen?

Certification of the funds would have made millions of dollars immediately available to life-saving programs directly impacted by aggressive cuts last budget season.

If DC's Chief Financial Officer Glen Lee certifies funding for the FY26 Contingency List signed into law by @councilofdc, it would fund essential, lifesaving programs including DC Healthcare Alliance 🎉

Have you seen federal troops in your communities even after they're *technically* supposed to be gone?

You can thank @mayorbowser.dc.gov for that.

We should not be arresting our unhoused neighbors. What we're witnessing on our streets is cruel, counterproductive, and unacceptable.

Federal agents should not be patrolling our streets, terrifying our residents, and taking people away. The federal surge needs to end.

Mayor Bowser, "shared priorities" with this administration means having masked agents disappear our neighbors in the middle of the night.

It means soldiers with assault rifles in our neighborhoods.

It means arresting children.

These are the priorities of a dictator. DC does not share them.
Bowser welcomes federal law enforcement presence indefinitely
Bowser issued an executive order Tuesday requiring local coordination with federal law enforcement “to the maximum extent allowable by law.” The order gives no expiration date.
