Full-time potter in Canada. Maker of nice pots and furry monsters.

Just blocked three AI accounts back to back, so let me ask you something. When you look at the work I've posted, what in the nine hells makes you even REMOTELY think I support your garbage, brain-draining, skill-killing, jumped up chatbot? You and your stupid little gizmo are not welcome here.
I am so happy to be getting this today. If you're not following @theotherhappyplace.bsky.social please immediately do so. I wasn't expecting to get the pin! Very happy to be adding this horrible man to my pin board.

An example of a Dapper Cup! I makes these fine gentlemen in tophats or fezzes. This one had surface cracking unfortunately, so I drink tea out of it now.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen worse art discourse than on Tumblr.

So, being a potter, the work I make can take upwards of several weeks between making it, drying it, decorating it, and firing it and that can really surprise folks when I tell them. What is surprising for me is that people don't extend this to painting and drawing as well.
Remember: It's normal for full art pieces to take more than a day or two to complete. Some pieces will take longer to complete than others and that's normal.

Social media has warped our perception on how long things actually take to create. You're doing fine. 🤍

Man, I love ancient pottery so much. You see so many animal shaped vessels like this, just wonderfully odd things that are also so clearly the animal they're meant to be. Look at the shape of the legs!

I saw this as the opening short for a screening of Laputa. This is essentially a prequel to Nausicaa and looked incredible in a theatre.

What a fine and gorgeous beastie this is. God I love art dolls :D
Showing off Narcissu's immense size but also his flexibility! I custom built a stand for display as well because of his size and weight. I'll try and get a video of him in the sun, because wow, does he ever sparkle!

100% handmade by me, a very human artist! Can't get this from a robot, folks!

It always makes my day when a really good, strange creature crosses my path.
They are a peculiar species that thrive in the arid plains. Telepathic and featureless, they often wear masks to facilitate interaction with humans, and scavenge gear from those who don’t survive the heat.

Good GOD, I swear fibre artists are in another reality from us. This is just stunning.
I’ve finished another needle felted piece of terrain….all made from wool :-) It’s so satisfying!

Finally remade my “Ceramicists United” illustration after 5 years given the popular demand, especially from the local community! :)

I’ll be getting some local quotes for screenprinting tees and tank tops and can make some prints + stickers as well! 🏺🔥

Some doll concepts I'd love to make a reality some day. Especially the rhino!

LOOK AT THIS FABULOUS BUG. This is unbelievable! And the PARTS ALL MOVE!
Before #InsectWeek passes me by (working on an arachnid 😅) here’s a bug—a true bug, water boatman (Corixidae)—I made in bronze and silver, articulated to show that, surprisingly, these swimmers are good fliers! 1/2 #SciArt

Similarly, I made a LOT of garbage pottery, because I was learning. The cup on the left is one of my very first mugs. There's about ten years of progress represented by these three cups. And I'm still perpetually learning new ways to do things.

Sir, you think of the most nightmarish medical conditions and I will never get tired of it.
While a pupillosarcoma's growth is primarily local, metastasis to other organs has been documented in the lymph nodes, bone marrow, and brain.
As chemotherapy is not an effective treatment, these cases are always fatal.

You know, I actually thought for a second this was real Delftware xD You did these amazingly, even down to the chipping around the edges. This whole thread is so impressive!
Delftware tiles!

There were hundreds of fabulous examples to choose from in the Victoria & Albert Museum’s online catalogue, but I eventually settled on nine.

These 18th-century ships, shepherds, castles, figures, and flowers brought me joy. I hope they’ll do the same for you, too.

Not a writer but I am an enjoyer of horror and things not necessarily ending well in a story. Please write about the upsetting thing, always, because those are honestly some of the best, strongest and most impactful stories I've read or watched.
Sorry, I had a terrible day and I'm being a bit of a bitch, but I'm seeing a lot of "I don't write [upsetting thing] because I don't think [upsetting thing] should be entertainment"

And honestly, I don't understand.

This is quite possibly some of the funniest shit Ive ever seen
I was extremely tempted by this $1 copy of Audition that features a cover so ill-conceived and poorly executed that it got misfiled into the Young Adult section,

Art from way back! These four are table guardians, submitted for a show about table settings and dining but unfortunately not accepted. They were an interesting challenge to make and I always liked the way they turned out.

I know it's hard, but don't force yourself into crunch time during the final days leading up to a convention or the like. All you're doing is guaranteeing you burn out at that event faster.

Now I only have a passing familiarity with David Lynch's work, but it is a WILD damn take to say anything he did was "right-wing coded".

Ooh, hello future cup ideas.
Sipping my coffee ☕️ thinking about these marvellous Minoan cups!

So modern-looking it’s incredible to think they were made by Bronze Age potters 3,800 years ago!

Known as Kamares Ware, these luxury ceramics were made in palace workshops. Heraklion Archaeological Museum 📷 by me
