I guess #InsectWeek is a thing and admittedly I don't paint a lot of insects, but I do like bees. So here's a sleepy little fella I did awhile back.

Bee queens often kill other queens that threaten their status. To prevent this, workers of some stingless bees keep spare virgin queens in a "prison" chamber for safe-keeping. They receive food through a hole. Happy #InsectWeek!! (Plebeia droryana, Photo: Cristiano Menezes)

I found this incredible web under one of my shrubs. A day earlier its strands were invisible. After the rain this week,it revealed itself as a sparkling necklace of tiny water droplets. #Nature #InsectWeek #AlphabetChallenge #WeekZforZoology #EastCoastKin #OnlyBeautifulThings #Photography #Macro

Here in Florida (AKA Jurassic Park) every week is #InsectWeek ! Here, insects the size of rats find some crack in the foundation. Cockroaches and Lubbers Grasshoppers remind you #theywereherefirst in defiance of the most aggressive Pest Control Plans!

Happy Insect Week!
🎣 Meet the Angler’s Curse up-wing fly.
The nickname comes from how their mass emergence leads to feeding frenzies for fish — this can cause difficulty for anglers who can't compete!

For #insectweek here is a type of insect I didn’t know existed until getting into #macro photography: a bark louse, herbivorous cousin to parasitic lice. This Teliapsocus conterminus looks like one bug is mounting another but it’s apparently just got a whole decoy head. #bugsky

This may be a Greenhead Horsefly - Tabanus nigrovittatus
Can anyone confirm?
Found on my windowsill today, overlooking Pett Level, a wetland that is mostly very dry.
It was still enough for this focus stacked image.

We’re moving last month's #InsectWeek into the world of hi-lo fiction.

Will the insects looking for fresh meat in 'Crawlers' put you on the menu? Or will you end up in a deadly swarm, like poor Mrs Wiggins in 'Boffin Boy and the Deadly Swarm'?

(Great titles for engaging reluctant readers!)
