Making computers find bugs so that I don't have to -- mostly in databases, but prior to that in security.

An underappreciated thing, I think, is that OpenAI wasn't the first to the technology, it was just the first to both have the technology and be recklessly irresponsible enough to actually release it as a product

fucking wild that there's people out there sincerely arguing that there's any reasonable response to "uh hey man that's not just a generic skull & bones that's an SS-totenkopf" other than "oh god holy shit I didn't realize, I am going to go get it covered up literally at the end of this sentence"

This is the kind of full and unequivocal defense trans people deserve to hear from more candidates for office
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Portland police are all deeply fascist, they kettle and gas protestors at a moment's notice, and even they're like "yeah dawg this is fucked up"
Essential context for what is happening in Portland and Trump's declaration of war against us. Note that it's *local law enforcement* accusing the feds of incitement.

As I recall, the last time a UVA president got ousted it went /so well/ that they were promptly reinstated & the board was basically powerless for years?
I don’t love Ryan but I feel like this isn’t necessarily wise…
So whose agenda is this attempted ouster? The White House’s, or this group of dissatisfied extremist alumni and board members?

After watching the first episode, I did not realize that Hell's Paradise is... apparently about how the MC is super powered b/c he's the biggest wife guy.

If someone had told me, I would have watched it much sooner. (I will not take corrections on this interpretation at this time, I love it.)

Fun fact: “Sexecutioner,” by Gwar (along with the rest of “Scumdogs of the Universe”) appears to be rated E for Everyone on Spotify.

Now, I knew about Gwar either in late elementary school or early middle school, but I’m a little suspicious of the rating system…

We cannot give everyone a trial and due process. We have to stop the criminality. Justice demands we should accept the clear evidence that JD Vance killed the Pope.

attaching a raspi to a 20-ton hunk of steel to make it a "computer" and exempt from punitive tariffs
Trump exempting computers & phones from the tariffs today means that Chinese-made laptops now have lower tariffs than European Cars, Mexican Steel, & Canadian Lumber.

Also means Vietnamese-made laptops have a lower tariff than Ethiopian coffee, Indian tea, & Guatemalan bananas

The latest comprehensive plan meeting has begun with a 101 on what floor-area ratio is, as the city's new land use committee chair asks how FAR (basically: the built square footage in, say, a house) differs from lot size. You might not know that, but the land use chair should.
