Hard drives? Solid state? Both dead within 20 years, and you're lucky if they last half that long. CD-R? Maybe 25 years.

Libraries pay for ebooks and (controversially) usually have to pay again if they want to keep them after a set number of check-outs, so authors do get paid by libraries. Do either, if you’re not pirating, the author is getting paid something.
Any idea whether kindle unlimited is better for authors than borrowing library e-books for free? It's not all or nothing, I use my library for books that aren't on kindle unlimited once I go beyond my book budget.
