Thanks to a software program called "Tangles," police—sheriffs, Texas state cops, and even ICE—can follow the location of your smartphone without a warrant.

Yet, we know little about how it has been used. Here's what our investigation revealed:
Texas Police Invested Millions in a Shadowy Phone-Tracking Software. They Won’t Say How They’ve Used It.
One sheriff who leads an anti-smuggling task force says the software helps “develop leads to eventually obtain probable cause.” Civil liberties experts say its use violates constitutional rights.

Muting a Black woman to claim the vote was unanimous is so incredibly on the nose
The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Cursor seems like a major safety issue to me. Particularly around hot-reloaded code. It will edit things without your permission, save them to disk and only then ask you if you want to undo the changes it already made. Your entire system could crash before you can hit the undo. Or worse.

There are a lot of things Republicans want but that will never actually become law.

This stuff is very real. This is part of the tax cut/Medicaid cut/food stamps cut bill.

It’s filibuster-proof so can be enacted even with all Democrats voting no.
Text for both the Oversight and Financial Services parts of the filibuster-proof reconciliation bill are out.

Republicans are trying to cut CFPB by 58%.

CFPB protects consumers and has directly returned over $20 billion to consumers already and saved them from significantly more in avoided costs.
