i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

GoFundMe has set up a page for the Texan flood victims. Each campaign has been verified by the company's Trust & Safety experts, which means you know your money is going directly to families. Please consider donating if you can. Their stories are heartbreaking.

The Denver “No Kings” demonstration is 95-year-old Dolores Taylor’s first protest. Seeing other people her age at the protest gives her hope, she said.

“We’re here, coming out against the Trump administration, because this is not the American way,” she said.

Please read, this is important. Sorry it’s long.

Trump’s move to have Elon Musk step aside wasn’t a retreat. It was a distraction. With Musk’s name out of the headlines, many assumed the controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had quietly ended. It hasn’t. It’s just changed hands.

There is not a single congressional district in the U.S. where more than 15% of voters support cuts to SNAP, the federal program that provides food assistance to millions of low-income Americans.

41 people on the made up "DOGE" team:
~36 white people
~2 Latinos
~2 South Asians
~1 Arab?

0 Black people

I'm sure this was definitely meritocracy and definitely not overt white supremacy and nazism from a fascist who grew up in apartheid South Africa.

Giving Know Your Rights info to residents & shops is one way to help ensure everyone — regardless of immigration status — knows their rights (& their neighbors’ & coworkers’) with immigration enforcement.

Thanks CASA & @dcmigrantmutualaid.org for helping organize this weekend’s East County canvass!

I say again, support your local public libraries!

We visited ours today to file our toddler’s first-ever passport application. It’s a major public service not all libraries offer, so we are super thankful this is a thing here. The whole process took just an hour (including a stop for pastries).
