The storage boom is real and fast
In 2018 the EIA predicted that the U.S. would have 40GW of energy storage installed by 2050.

Their latest predictions are for the US to have 40GW of energy storage installed by 2025.

Storage is the fossil fuel killer. But the fossil fuel industry, like many, didn't see this coming.

What's kind of amazing is that we're actually living through a huge technology revolution where our entire power grid is being replaced by solar panels and battery storage and you hear less about it in the press than you did about the totally fake "tech" of NFTs

At EIA, we just released our National Energy Modeling System (NEMS) — used to produce the Annual Energy Outlook — as an open source product, with additional EIA code to follow. 🔌💡

Hope everyone's ready for Snail Curve summer 🐌
The snail’s head is coming out from its shell!

At this pace, by 2030 battery deployments will have solved all issues of renewable energy variability, pointing the way to a 100% clean electricity grid with little need for gas backup.

Note: NREL's bottom-up estimate of US residential solar costs above (t.co/FiKVNRXNQf) comes to a total of ~$2.7/W, while DOE Quarterly Solar Report (www.energy.gov/eere/solar/q...) says real costs are $3-6/W, so the reality is even WORSE than above! Even more bloat somewhere. 🔌💡

The latest NREL bottom up estimate of US residential rooftop solar costs finds the combo of customer acquisition costs (~$0.9/Watt) + installer profit (~$0.65/W) = $1.55/W or more than the TOTAL cost of similar systems in Australia, Germany, etc. This is a fundamentally broken market! 🔌💡

Um guys? Making the executive decision to invade Iraq wasn't an easy choice. If forced to weigh every option, it's possible you'd have done the same. Perhaps you should examine your own choices you make in life, before attacking others. Gotta go, see ya.
