the fact that there is even a defense being made on behalf of HP is pretty strongly indicative of a broader trend of how hostile fandom culture is to trans women of colour while obfuscating the way JKR's actions work on specifically naming them for extermination as the pivot point
As a queer Scot who has watched Rowling decimate trans safety and rights in my own country, I personally find it deeply offensive to see people claim that they need to keep HP relevant because some queer people still want to read fanfic and buy Etsy stickers.
