This is the final step on the road to authoritarian fascism.

If the President can rule by decree and cannot be scrutinized or reviewed by the other two branches, then this experiment in democracy is done.
If the Supreme Court ultimately agrees with what the gov't is arguing today, that the President has broad Article II powers that would permit it to deport people & there can be no judicial review, then literally no one is safe.

The funniest thing about all this is Joe Biden built a "bring back US manufacturing" button and Trump could have just kept pressing it but instead he insisted on smashing the "crash the stock market" button

Nicola Willis has proposed that the Living Wage no longer needs to be paid in cleaning, catering, & security services that are procured by government. Thousands of low-paid workers now face the potential pay cuts. We strongly condemn these changes.

Fuck this guy. His son is drifting to the far right, so the answer is to just platform it? Also, throwing trans people under the bus is disgusting.

Gavin Newsom's MAGA drift is here
In suggesting that Democrats were wrong about trans athletes and cozying up to MAGA favorites, Newsom's presidential ambitions are more craven than ever.

I’d like to hear from voters of any race who were evacuated from polling places due to bomb threats and never voted.
The media is now obsessed with remorseful Trump voters, white voters, who are now losing their jobs or upset about inflation. I don’t want to hear from them. I want to hear from the Black voters who stood in line for hours, only to be turned away because their name was purged from the rolls.

So people are against empathy now? The sides are crystal clear. If you are doubling down on the side that is anti-empathy, I don’t know what to tell you.

This piece is exactly right. I'm seeing people protest it by saying, "Why would Trump deliberately hurt people who voted for him?" And that's the problem: Trying to find "logic" in the thinking of an addled sociopathic narcissist is a fool's game.
tired of people treating trump like he is anything other than an ego-driven simpleton (i wrote this, this is a piece about why he is nothing more than an ego driven simpleton.)

It is hard to describe the president’s first month and a half in office as something other than a retribution campaign against the American people.

...What you need is 'anarchist calisthenics.' Every day or so break some trivial law that makes no sense, even if it’s only jaywalking. Use your own head to judge whether a law is just or reasonable. That way, you'll keep trim; and when the big day comes, you'll be ready" -J. Scott

Robert Reich referred to the right wing media’s attempt to normalise Trump as “malignant piffle”, and I think this is the best characterisation of this administration that I have heard.

Some of our representatives are upset and complaining that they’ve “been getting too many phone calls” from us about everything that’s going wrong in this country right now.

Sounds like we need to make even more phone calls. 😎

Schumer's strategy of allowing/encouraging Dems to vote for the "normal" nominees in order to try and peel off Republican defections to block Hegseth/RFK/Gabbard appears to have completely failed.
It appears there is little to no resistance from Senate Republicans to the nomination of RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary
