My new essay on the Democratic Party and its “fear of breakdown“: We aren’t on the edge of democracy’s demise; it’s already lost. Confronting this reality is essential for meaningfully opposing fascism.

Democrats must stand for something principled and real, not just compromise and civility while fascists enact mass violence across the country. I've an essay out today that underlines yet another set of reasons why caving on the budget is disaster.

A crazy day in Little Village: A report of someone shooting at federal agents, fortunately no one was hit. The Feds pepper allegedly sprayed an infant. A cop was hit by a car. And Bovino threatened to tear gas angry residents. Story from @chicagotribune.com www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/08/c...

A 'new' innovation: What if banks allow people to live in homes and eat food, but only on the condition that they pay the banks all the money they make for the rest of their lives and then leave everything they "own" to the bank upon their death? Trumponomics' 50-year home loans. Brilliant.

His plan is apparently something like “no health insurance: just pay arbitrary sticker prices yourself.”
In case it’s not clear, that’s just a plan for mass death and bankruptcy.

Police power in US cities is so overwhelming that we do not in reality have civilian control of the police. No matter how popular, elected officials are terrified of provoking the police behemoth. This is not tenable.
