Currently fixing a major exploit, allowing players to completely skip encounters with Wisteria Widdershin. Figured out how to repair it, but had to draw a new shader animation, and now I'm stuck with implementation logic.
Gotta sleep over that, a.k.a. "apply a Pillow Patch".

These days I spend the majority of time in menu procedures, coding ui behavior. The actual gameplay I consider DONE, so now I downright dread revisiting the core loop, lol.😅
Navigating gameplay code feels like I'm the guy from "Memento", taking a shot at a "Choose your own Adventure" novel.

soloDevs, I grant u permission to be as fucking weird as you can be with ur designs.❤️Me, I am not competing with GTA 6. Not even with SILKSONG!
But if ur vision is strong, and u got the discipline & understand ur tools, eventually you WILL find your wee little audience.

Implementing a new feature be like:
Day 1: Hack away, check that it (kinda) works, drop.
Day 2: Refactor, fix bugs, polish.

Turns out, double-binding controls is fine, as long as they don't conflict (e.g. seperate game modes). So, no more warning, just a friendly FYI:

At long last the bitch has been vanquished: custom Key Bindings are a WRAP! Truth be told, I had coded myself into a corner, and went off the deep end for over a month.
Today, tho, in a 20h+ crunch I emerged victorious ... and it's beautiful (the code probably not, but who cares).🥹

I have between 5 and 10 games before reaching retirement age, and given that I'm an indie I'm going to make damn sure that if I'm going into the hamster wheel for it, each one of them is something I care about.
During a talk, the speaker calculated how many games he could develop before retiring, given that each one takes three years to create.

Now I'm here, calculating how many #indiegames I'll be able to release in my lifetime.

Please make the games you like, we might not have enough time.

Lots of things to consider, when coding a custom keyboardMapping system ... here's one aspect of #gameDev I did NOT underestimate; I knew it would suck. 😅

✅ Added an option to restore default bindings.
✅ keyboardMapping-File now encoded (no more manually hacking)

Finally started tackling custom keyBinding. Coding this sucks soooooo bad. 😭But I've cleared the first hurdle:

✅Retrieve current inputMaps
✅Display
✅Browsing Tabs

I abused the heck out of my messageDisplay-function, poor thing is a hot mess now. But it works. 🥹

"Recurrent thematic blurbs" may be set to either "Reset on New World Seed", "Reset on New Game" or "Never Reset". With 3rd option they will only show up once, then never bother you again.
