That the administration made this go away should be the end of the administration.
"Border Czar Tom Homan was caught by the FBI accepting bribes – on camera – to deliver government contracts in exchange for $50,000 in cash. Pam Bondi knew. Kash Patel knew. Emil Bove knew. And they made the investigation go away. A corrupt attempt to conceal brazen graft.”
Trump border czar Tom Homan reportedly accepted $50,000 in cash from undercover FBI agents
Alleged handoff occurred before Trump won second presidency, after which administration killed federal corruption case

It looks like I’m drifting out to sea, but this is Lake Winnipeg. It was a beautiful evening to get out on the water for a little bit. I’ve clocked over 150 km in this kayak this season and I’m not done.

Orange oak bolete has a mycorrhizal relationship with mainly aspen and oak, under which I found this one.

That is, the fungus connects with tree roots, helping them absorb water and minerals from the soil.

In return, the tree feeds it with sugars produced via photosynthesis in its leaves.

Power is the rock on which truth founders. The mainstream media, with a few exceptions, is a single-issue lobby group, whose purpose is to assert the rights of capital.
Here's what I've learnt about the industry in 40 years in journalism.

I have now been a journalist for 40 years. The forces ranged against my profession have never been so powerful | George Monbiot
Once, I believed that humanity’s problem was an information deficit. Now, I know you can’t speak truth to power if power controls your words, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Mobile phones allowed African countries to leapfrog copper wire connections.

Solar and batteries should allow them to leapfrog fossil fuel electricity.
African countries are importing solar panels from China at record rates. Energy thinktank Ember says imports rose 60% in the 12 months to June 2025, as Africa’s power needs converge with China’s overproduction and low prices.
Africa soaks up the sun as solar energy surges
Prices of solar panels have fallen 40% to 50% in just 18 months. Solar now costs as little as three US cents per kilowatt hour – cheaper than diesel and lower than many African electricity tariffs.

It could have been worse, but things are still confusing. One of my main take aways is that it is still a very good idea for states to pass their own laws to make things crystal clear and protect COVID vaccine access.
This is the best summary I can personally come up with from ACIP’s meeting on COVID19 vaccines:

1. I think the situation is the same as it was *before* the meeting.

2. They voted that prescriptions are not required, but if you live somewhere that currently requires them, they still may be.

I think the upshot of everything that has happened this week — many states implementing orders, and the ACIP leaving it up to individual choice and voting against requiring prescriptions — is that COVID vaccines will be more accessible to everyone than has been the case recently. Good news.

Kennedy’s cranks on ACIP are no longer recommending COVID-19 vaccines.

We can no longer look to ACIP, a once distinguished, trusted body, for honesty and good science.

What a disgrace. What a humiliating disgrace to the United States. Willful self-immolation.
