We've always had these dead-eyed socipaths around. It's just a few years ago they were ignored and now they're "senior fellow" at places funded by evil millionaires + going on podcasts with a brain-rotted ex-PM.
Harrison Pitt accuses the King of treachery. Pitt is a Senior Policy Fellow for Rupert Lowe's Restore Britain, who also regularly co-hosts podcasts with his ally Tomlinson (who advocates banning all ethnic and faith minorities from public office). Like Lowe, Pitt is keen to dissolve boundaries/norms

There are many postliberal reactionary types preempting this already. Some of their solutions will involve explicitly arguing to roll back women’s rights. Self styled “reactionary feminist”, Mary Harrington, has been explicitly arguing along these lines for a while.

There is no such thing as "toxic masculinity" because there aren't degrees of a constructed hierarchy to keep women inferior to men. There isn't a polite way of doing that, the system is a binary & is itself the problem.

One thing I’ve been surprised by is that some people actually enjoy being in hostile volatile environments because they would otherwise be bored. I just don’t get it.

Practicing peace is hard. It means practicing justice and it means not indulging an understandable desire for revenge. This is hard. But practicing peace is practicing survival for our species and our ecosystems.

Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Baroness Falkner questions “veracity” of a judge’s judgment.

In a possibly unique statement the immediate former chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission Baroness Falkner is reported by the BBC as having questioned the ‘veracity’ of the Judgment of the Judge in Peggie v Fife and Upton.

The headline on website is different to what was posted here? I wonder if it has been changed.

At the very least journalists should point out to Kishwer Faulkner & other EHRC officials that their presentation of the practical effects of the SC judgement has been inaccurate & legally contentious.

I loved listening to Shon’s point on how the experience of class inequality is gendered. Very much in line with how Stuart Hall thought of how class relations are equally shaped by race in which he said, “Race is the modality in which class is lived”.

Two theses on this:

1.Historians cut religion out of political history too early. Well into the 80s, UK politics is still saturated in the stories, referents & norms of Christianity (irrespective of belief).

2.The collapse of that common culture is the most neglected factor in more recent politics

Yep. Don’t remember where I saw the recommendation, but there’s an app called “WeCroak” that sends daily reminders to contemplate your mortality. Incredibly liberating for me.
also if I can Stoicism post just a bit: this is also what memento mori is for. you are going to die someday - do you really imagine than one of your regrets will be that you didn't organize more of your life around what random Redditors think is gay?

bsky.app/profile/maxk...
So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.
