Fun fact: the Broncos haven't had a home kickoff temperature below 60° through 8 home games this season. Gotta be the first time on record that's happened.

Today is Denver's 12th day this month with 60°+ temps.

Zero doubt we'll break the record for most 60°+ days on record in December on record (15 days, 1980).

About 85,000 Xcel customers don't have power tonight. Some haven't had power for days and might not have power for days more.

A widower told us he doesn't like to leave his home. It's filled with memories of his wife. But he couldn't take the cold. @spencersoicher.bsky.social reports:

Ugh. The city is saying we may be without power until MONDAY MORNING!
Record heat + 80 mph winds (west metro) + bone dry = very high fire danger.

Hate to say this, but more wind on the way for Friday. It looks similar to today’s, but perhaps a bit more of a foothills/mountain event.

More tomorrow…

So fucking embarrassing to share a country with so many comically unserious lunatics like the ones who think science, climate and weather are woke and therefore must be defunded
Psst: Notice where this wind/weather data is coming from. It's coming from NCAR.

One tiny blip of the kajillion things NCAR does to improve/advance weather forecasting.

The wind has arrived...

60+ mph gusts at the Mesa Lab in Boulder, all kicking up within the last half hour.

This moves into the rest of the metro area in the next few hours.

I’m never confident about industry analysis, but I would like to advance a hypothesis for discussion. As the industry enters a protracted phase of stasis, growth will come via cannibalization, as the stronger breweries drive out weaker ones. *Some* breweries are doing great, which is bad for others.
The 2025 Year in Beer
Changing consumer behaviors, retailer rationalization, cost increases from inflation and tariffs, and more competition than ever were compounding difficulties in 2025. While many of the headwinds aren’t expected to disappear in 2026, there may be reason for cautious optimism in some areas.

Some of Colorado’s top criminal justice minds called it “bonkers,” “garbage,” and “a loser.”
