Just the most brutal half I’ve watched as a Packers fan in a long while and I watched that Browns game

As of right now, the Packers lost Zach Tom, Christian Watson, Micah Parsons, and Evan Williams in this game.

Just an absolute disaster.

Video of federal agents tear-gassing Irving Park this morning, obtained by Armando Sanchez. This is at least the sixth neighborhood federal agents have tear gassed while conducting immigration raids

I can’t quite put into words what it’s been like in Chicago these past weeks, trying to support our neighbors during dramatic and frequent ICE raids. It is genuinely frightening, truly unnecessary, and traumatizing for so many. And our children are bearing witness in their schools and communities.

In a video taken by a witness and shared with the Sun-Times, cars could be seen blocking the white, unmarked SUV before a masked agent rolled down his window and dropped the canisters. Smoke spread around the vehicle and passersby began to scream.

Video taken by several witnesses captured the moments where the agent can be seen dropping a canister from a white SUV.

Today I spoke with Greg Bovino, a top U.S. Border Patrol chief, as he led dozens of feds in military gear through downtown Chicago.

He said they were arresting folks based on “how they look.”

“How do they look compared to, say, you?” he said, referring to me.

The rule of finally deciding to make a big fun purchase (cargo e-bike) is that something expensive will immediately go wrong in your house (second kitchen leak in two months leading to new wood floors plus a bonus new dishwasher)

THE WORLD: Will the new pope will continue Pope Francis' focus on inclusion and care for the poor?
CHICAGO: Despite early reports that Pope Leo is a Cubs fan, we're live with his brother from his TV room in an inner-ring suburb where he says no, his mom was a Cubs fan but Bob roots for the Sox.

Just a really enlightening thread that neatly reveals a challenge that as a white mom I don't really have to think about. I'm grateful for this type of vulnerability and sharing and the way it challenges me to see others more fully and check my own assumptions.
Loved this by @sarahradz.bsky.social in @thepom.bsky.social! Like all Pom pieces, it got me thinking about how while somethings about early parenthood are universal, others are so particular to the person. (1/)
Very important essay from @sarahradz.bsky.social for @thepom.bsky.social in which she urges parents to sit the hell down.

I reported on economics full-time in 2020. It taught me there are no incentives to have a baby in the US. Women in the US have to pay for pre-natal, medical and child care, earn less, do most of the parenting and chores, get promoted less, and are now at 27% higher risk of maternal mortality.
