Next stop? Rep. Greg Steube’s district! He’s supporting cuts to Medicaid and vital programs that people in Sarasota have earned and depend on. @chrismurphyct.bsky.social and I will be there to speak to the people next week!

the other thing about the current extreme right wing political strategy from the White House and its enablers to make us all scared and afraid is that the longer you spend making people afraid, the more chances they have to think things over and realize they're actually courageous

So universities, which are already struggling to attract talent, since tech and biz pay so much goddam money, will have less money to spend on talent if they want to keep their research infrastructure in place

See if NSF is forced down same path

Is this the break the glass moment for university administrators who have been silent so far about the attack on science?

The "first they came..." poem gets quoted and quoted and quoted and quoted and you know what, we do in fact know who they're coming for first, right now, and that is trans people, and the answer needs to be "absolutely the fuck not, you motherfuckers," full stop.

My Washington Post subscription has been cancelled, expiring Feb. 25th; it's too bad because I mostly enjoy reading it. So any suggestions on how I should spend the $100 that would have gone to the WaPo for a good news source?

Thanks to Ann Lamont in the Washington Post for this comforting quote: “Freedom fighters don’t always win, but they are always right” from Molly Ivans. I will miss the WaPo when my subscription ends in February but I hate what Bezos has done to it.

Bravo, @anntelnaes.bsky.social.

I guess the new slogan for the Washington Post ought to be:

“Newspapers die in cowardice.”

VICTORY! NYS Gov Hochul just SIGNED the CO2 fracking ban bill. The gas industry will NOT extract natural gas from our shale bedrock by injecting it w liquid CO2 captured from…the new gas plants it wants to build.

Fracking=dumb

Carbon capture=dumber

Together=insanity

Your brief talk at the Dec. 10th rally and the longer version that afternoon were both great: clear and compelling. Thank you for your support.

There's a bizarre and ongoing mainstream effort to launder RFK Jr into someone who just wants to get Americans eating nutritious food and exercising again but that is not evidenced anywhere in his public statements or career in public life.

He is a liar and conspiracist.

I am old enough to remember the fear of polio then lining up at school to get the vaccine when it first came out.
i am convinced that these people are death worshippers who want to spread as much disease and sickness as possible (i also think this is all tied up in eugenic beliefs about the “survival of the fittest” www.nytimes.com/2024/12/13/h...

Walmart may be closed today but they still have their contract workers out making deliveries. I don't know why they stop selling sandals in stores in November.

Waiting to see how my very active Democratic party in what is now an overwhelmingly Republican county will evolve; I fear we will descend into a cluster of drinking liberally social events. We have a huge volunteer base but what to do with them when we cannot get candidates elected at any level?
