Reluctantly now focused on public health & disability resources because the professions aren't. Also try to fit in some service design, outdoors and whimsy.

As we head into another weekend of protests, please look out for one another.

If you’re disabled and can’t be boots on the ground, that’s ok. Don’t let anyone make you feel guilt.

Resist in your own way. Share posts. Amplify hashtags.

Remember that rest is resistance.

Survival is resistance.

Just finished up at the Evanston No Kings rally. It was safe, peaceful, and a show of solidarity by *at least* 1,000 people.

Go to your local protest. Don’t let this administration scare you. Stand with your community when our leaders won’t.

So back from the No Kings rally in St. Clair, PA. Was raining all morning but that didn’t stop us from turning out. It was estimated that we had over 150 people.

Same.

Infants on ventilators…
Athletic teens with MIS-C requiring vasopressors while their heart function looks like a huge anterior wall MI…
long COVID cases impacting school and other daily activities…

My family will continue to get vaccinated and I’ll continue recommending it to my patients
I know that people have a lot of thoughts about #COVID vaccines in kids but as someone who cared for previously healthy kids who had really bad outcomes, I will be vaccinating my kids every chance I can get.

I've been building a graph of issues in (American) society I've been observing, and child labor has been on it since very early on.

Between mass disablement from Covid and immigrant workers being scared or detained/deported, the labor landscape in America is going to be bleak.

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

This an ugly way to begin the four-year process whereby Americans relearn that the US government a) does all kinds of things they need but don't even know about, b) well, despite c) being chronically understaffed.
➡️ January 20: FAA director fired
➡️ January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen
➡️ January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded
➡️ January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees
➡️ January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years

Anyone who thinks trying to eke out a living on Mars is going to be better than this magical, perfect rock we call home is a complete moron. Earth is amazing and we need to protect it for ourselves and the other living things that call it home.

When it comes to long-term behaviour change, attractiveness might be the most overlooked design principle.

Looking past comfort and convenience, it employs beauty—art, lighting, nature, etc.—to create a user experience that entices people onto a bike, even when a car makes the most practical sense.

The hard work of building a just future requires each of us to not give up. Hope isn’t passive, it’s active. Be hopeful, it takes tenacity, persistence, and courage. It’s much easier to be cynical or angry but real strength lies in hope and speaking up.

You can say, “gravity isn’t real,” but if you step off the cliff, you’re still going down.

And if you convince other people it’s not real, you are responsible for what happens if they make decisions based on the information you withheld.
