Disappointing remark. I want good UK infrastructure as much as anyone, but ‘unremarkable wildlife’ bechsteins bats are not!
Still, I for one am glad we’ve probably robbed future generations of a transformation to our economic geography. Well worth it largely through govt incompetence, saving some unremarkable wildlife and giving very, moneyed, very propertied people endless power to alter the route unnecessarily.

Probably late to the party but I’ve just heard swifts outside my house for first time this year ❤️

A gobsmacking story. Water companies let toxic waste disposers, for cash, dump their loads into sewage farms. The sewage sludge is then spread, untested, on farmland, potentially poisoning vast areas, entire ecosystems and the people (you and me) eating the food.

I heard someone talking on the radio this morning about leaving #dog hair out for #birds to use in their nests

*If pets have been treated with certain flea treatments, this could kill the chicks*

Now seems a good time to repost this article 👇

Our new paper, free to read in Bird Study, compares bird counts on solar farms and adjacent farmland. For solar farms with infrequently cut/grazed grass and bounded by hedges/trees, both farmland and woodland birds were more abundant than on adjacent arable land www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

To the best of my knowledge, we broke the 🚨 world longevity record 🚨 for Mediterranean Gull on Saturday, with this bird re-trapped at Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex. Ringed at Folkestone, Kent, as an adult in February 2001, it’s now in at least its 28th calendar year, with no sightings since 2001! (🧵 1/2)

We've crossed a very, very dangerous threshold. The combined forces of ignorance, disinformation, hate, and extreme wealth have seized power and are twisting the global agenda.

Decent people need to step up and counter it all, or things are simply going to descend into the pit of hell.
